The Constitution Building Processes Programme at International IDEA, with support from the IDRC - Canada, convened  this event in partnership with the Non Aligned Movement Center for South South Technical Cooperation (NAM CSSTC) from 12-15 October 2009 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Drawing from experiences in South and South East Asia, the over 30 Constitution building practitioners and academics coming from South and South East Asia, Latin America and Africa shared experiences and knowledge on how constitutional design has assisted the performance of the state in addressing diversity-driven conflict. In partnership with Interpeace, the CBP Programme at International IDEA convened this workshop for practitioners to discuss and reflect on the status of the implementation of constitutions, lessons learned and the support that the CBP Programme can offer by way of knowledge resources and tools. The event drew over 25 academic experts from both the North and the Global South as well as other practitioners in post conflict constitution building.
