Theme Committee 4 - Fundamental Rights - Democratic Party Submission on: Item 12: Children’s Rights, Item 13: Life

Submission by the Democratic Party (DP) in South Africa on Children’s Rights and the Right to Life. The DP believes that special rights for children could lead to unforeseen and unfortunate consequences. They suggest that the rights concerning children in section 30 of the Constitution should not be confined to children per se; instead they should be extended to all natural persons. The DP also suggests an amendment of the formulation of the Right to Life in section 9 of the Constitution.
