Constitution of Zimbabwe: The Kariba Draft

This is the full text of the much discussed Kariba draft constitution of Zimbabwe that has threatened to mar the ongoing Constitution building process in Zimbabwe, pitting the main actors- ZANU PF, MDC and the Civil Society against one another. Drawn up in the town of Kariba from which it gets its name, the Kariba draft was originally conceived as the first home grown constitution. The MDC and civil society groups have rejected the document - which the ZANU PF want as the basis for the current process - on the grounds that it centralises too much power in the hands of the president.
