Certification Procedure: Objection

The Environmental Law Association of South Africa objects to the manner in which the environmental rights clause of the final Constitution of the Republic of South Africa was formulated. They felt that their written and oral submission to the Constitutional Assembly was not reflected in the text of the Constitution. The document also includes a letter from the Portfolio Committee on Environmental Affairs and Tourism explaining that the Constitutional Assembly did not have enough time to debate the issue sufficiently.
