The Arguments of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) regarding Freedom of Demonstration and Petition

This document displays the arguments of the ACDP Freedom of Demonstration and Petition. ACDP supports 16th section of the Constitution that regulates every person shall have the right to assembly and demonstrate with others peacefully, and to present petitions. The ACDP proposes that the resources of an independent public protector system, or similar persons, be made available to mediate on issues relating to demonstrations and petitioning. This will provide recourse to petitioners and protesters, and ensure uninterrupted functioning of the broader social machinery. Ideas of the ACDP on the application of this right can also be found in this document.
