India: Snaring Dissent is Undemocratic
<p>Right to freedom of speech and expression is immensely vital as it enables individuals and groups, among other things, to protest against what is wrong and express their dissent which is fundamental for any democratic institution. This right to protest against any erosion of liberties and freedoms of individuals by the government or some other entity cannot be underestimated. It assumes more significance as a state (state is referred here and throughout to the government wing) comes to have more control over the lives of its people.
