Egypt's military issues new amendments to Constitutional Declaration

<p>Just four days after Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court dissolved the country’s parliament and a day after runoff presidential elections that took place over the weekend of 16-17 June, the ruling military council (SCAF) has issued a new set amendments to the Constitutional Declaration which has been the country’s basic law since March 2011. According to the amended text, the new president, in the absence of parliament, will take the oath of office before the supreme constitutional Court. The current head of the SCAF is to act as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and minister of defense until a new constitution is drafted. No general elections are to be held pending the drwaing up of the new constitution. Read the full article here:
