Egyptian official indicates rewriting of constitution, drawing mixed reaction, Xinhua - 2013

<p><span>Egypt may rewrite its constitution instead of mere amendments, said Amr Moussa, who was elected on Sunday to lead a panel to look into constitutional matters.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5em;">"Probably, a new constitution will be drafted, instead of amending the old one," said Moussa in a statement.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-size: 1em; line-height: 1.5em;">A 50-member panel tasked to get the country's constitution right elected Moussa as its chairman on Sunday.&nbsp;<span>The 50-member panel will have 60 days to review the amendments proposed by the 10-member committee. Then a final draft will be crafted for national referendum.&nbsp;<span>Moussa was a long-serving foreign minister under Mubarak before his role as head of the Arab League.
