East African Court reviews constitutional court decision on extending the presidential two-term limit in Burundi

<p>The East African Court of Justice has on Tuesday held the first public hearing on the Burundi crisis in Arusha, Tanzania.&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 20.3999996185303px;">The case filed on July 6th involves the Pan-African Lawyers Union together with the East African Civil Society Forum versus the Attorney General of Burundi.&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height: 20.3999996185303px;">It seeks among other things an interim order staying the elections in Burundi.&nbsp;</span><span style="line-height: 20.3999996185303px;">They also want the regional court to determine the decision of the constitutional court of Burundi on the list of presidential candidates, breaches of the rule of law and the Arusha Peace and Reconciliation Agreement for Burundi 2000.&nbsp;</span><span style="line-heig
