Community of Practice on Electoral Assistance for the Arab Region

<p>On 3 May 2011, the United Nations Development Programme organised a “<em>Community of Practice on Electoral Assistance for the Arab Region</em>” in Cairo. The event was attended by a number of Egyptian and international organisations, including IDEA and IFES. Participants appear to have agreed that much work needs to be done to improve Egypt’s capacity in the run up to the coming elections, including training of electoral officials and judges as well as improving the necessary infrastructure to hold elections. </p>
