<p>After a series of eight lengthy debates, the Colombian House of Representatives followed in the Senate’s footsteps and overwhelmingly approved a reform bill that will eliminate presidential re-election.</p><div></div><div><p> </p><p>In October of 2014, the Colombian Senate voted to eliminate presidential re-election, along with a host of other political reforms. Just weeks prior to that, President Juan Manuel Santos presented his plan for just such a change so that his nation can “re-establish a balance of political power” by limiting the term lengths of the Executive to one four-year mandate, among other planned changes.</p><p> </p>
