IDEA: The Role of Constitution-Building Processes in Democratization - Case Study Kenya

The study provide a detailed account of the constitution making process in Kenya, the actors and their roles. It emphasises that a constitution building process may have more chance of actually building a constitution if there is sufficient public participation to generate genuine debate and public commitment. Nevertheless, the value of public participation may not be the same at every stage of the constitution building process. Th study also autions against delays in the drafting process as circumstances may change, and new power structures and allegiances develop.
