Akmal Saidov [lower house deputy speaker] was elected as the chairman of a new National Commission for Constitutional Reforms in Uzbekistan that will have the power to amend the Constitution of Uzbekistan and carry out organizational measures, Daryo news agency reports.
The composition and tasks of the commission were determined at a joint meeting of [parliament]. The council which will consist of 46 lawmakers and senators expressed a number of opinions on improving the Constitution. The Commission starts working on the basis of the idea that "Society is the initiator of reforms."
