<p>Turkey should abandon its staunchly secular constitution and adopt one that reflects its Islamic identity, the Speaker of parliament has told a group of religious scholars.</p><p>Even if they come to naught, the remarks by Ismail Kahraman, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and one of the country’s most senior politicians, reflect the profound changes under way in&nbsp;<a data-trackable="link" href="http://www.ft.com/topics/places/Turkey">Turkey</a>.</p><p>A nation whose modern incarnation was built on secularism has, over the past decade, experienced a religious infiltration into all aspects of public life under the Islamist-rooted Justice and Development party (AKP) dominated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.</p>
