In Pakistan, senior political leader promises to prioritise constitutional amendments protecting local governments

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal said on [30 November] that his party will prioritise the constitutional amendments to safeguard the local governments if voted into the power. Speaking exclusively on Samaa TV, the former planning minister underlined the role of the local governments in a bid to strengthen the democracy in the country. "This strategic move aims to facilitate leadership development among the youth, allowing them to ascend within the system," Iqbal said. [...] "The acceptance of constitutional amendments will go through the parliamentary process, according to Ahsan Iqbal. The constitutional amendments will grant constitutional protection to local governments, ensuring their continuity, regardless of provincial authorities," Iqbal said.
