Goodluck Jonathan’s recent announcement of his plan to ask parliament to amend
the constitution so that future federal and state
executive office holders serve a single, longer term in office</a>, is growing
as civil society and political parties come out strongly to condemn the move.
The plan, if passed, will scrape the current two four-year term limits and
replace it with a single [possibly] six-year term limit for both presidential
and gubernatorial mandates, effective as of 2015.
