Nigerian parliament to propose constitutional amendments piecemeal

<p>The House of Representatives Adhoc committee on the review of 1999 committee has adopted a new method of getting the reviewed constitution assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari. That was against what happened to the second and third alteration exercises. The committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker, Hon Sulaimon Lasun Yussuff, has concluded plans to review the constitution in piecemeal, instead of codifying it in a single Bill.</p><p>According to the deputy speaker, this new system would be embarked upon soon, and before the end of the 8th assembly, all the sections of the constitution that needed to be amended would have been concluded and assented to by the president.</p>
