Nigeria adopts a bill allowing for amendment of Constitution to strengthen financial autonomy of local government councils

The Nigerian House of Representatives' Special Ad-hoc Committee on Constitution Review has approved separation of the state and local government joint accounts. According to the lawmakers, such change is key for development of the rural lands which requires financial independence.
