Libya's Berbers demand constitutional recognition

<p>Libya's Berbers on Thursday said they would not recognize any new
constitution that fails to recognize their identity and language.</p><p>"Berbers
have the right to have their identity and language recognized in the
constitution," Ibrahim Makhlouf, head of the Supreme Council of Libya's
Berbers, told Anadolu Agency.</p><p>"We will not recognize the
constitution that will be drafted by the constituent assembly if it
fails to guarantee this right," he added.</p><p>Berbers, locally
known as "Amazigh," are indigenous to North Africa west of the Nile
Valley. They speak their own language, which has a multiplicity of local
