Kosovo court finds that parliament's election of government was constitutional

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has ruled that the decision to elect the government on September 13, 2026, does not violate the Constitution, while finding that the Assembly was constituted after the constitutional 30-day deadline. The ruling concerns the combined cases KO256/26 and KO258/26, which challenged the constitutionality of the election of the Assembly Speaker, the procedure for electing deputy speakers, the constitution of the 11th legislature and the election of the Kosovo government. The two cases had been joined by the Court on September 15. The Court found that the Kosovo Assembly was constituted after the expiration of the 30-day constitutional deadline. However, it ruled that the Assembly’s September 13 decision to elect the Government of Kosovo was not contrary to Article 95 of the Constitution.
