Kenyan court suspends president's executive order on independent constitutional bodies

The High court has suspended an Executive Order by President Uhuru Kenyatta which placed independent constitutional bodies under the direct control of the Attorney General and Cabinet Secretaries. The Executive Order dated May 11, 2020 would have seen tribunals and independent offices lose their independence and be subjected to respective departments and ministries unless court intervenes. Over 20 commissions would have been affected by the order.
