Kenya: Parliament not to extend constitution implementation commission mandate

<p>Parliament will not extend the term of the Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution past December 29, when it expires.</p><p>The National Assembly Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee yesterday said instead, the Office of the Attorney General should facilitate the administrative and functional takeover of the CIC.&nbsp;<span style="line-height: 20.4px;">“In view of the foregoing, it’s the considered view of the CIOC that extension of the life of CIC beyond the stipulated five years will serve no useful purpose in terms of continued implementation of the constitution,” committee chaired by Njoroge Baiya said.</span></p>
