In India, citizens in Jammu and Kashmir fearful amid speculation that government may change Article 35A

The fear and uncertainty regarding the abrogation of Article 35A of the constitution has gripped the state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). Amid massive troop deployment in the valley, the speculation is rife that the Centre might repeal the contentious law which grants exclusive rights to J&K residents in government jobs and land. Meanwhile, the National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the J&K Governor S P Malik has assured his party that no moves are planned on repealing Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution, or the state's trifurcation.
