Hungary's ruling party submits proposed constitutional amendment on a variety of subjects

Deputies of ruling Fidesz submitted a draft amendment to the constitution on Wednesday. [ . . . ] If the draft is passed by parliament, the constitution will in future stipulate that “a person is either a man or a woman”, the statement said, adding that “the right to using cash” as opposed to having to use credit cards would also be granted constitutional protection. The amendment is also aimed to ensure “children’s right to protection and care, which shall precede all other rights except the right to life”, the statement said. Under the amendment, the Hungarian nationality of persons holding multiple citizenship could be suspended if their activities could “jeopardise public order or national security”.
