High Council of State member reiterates importance of referendum on Libyan constitution

By Housam Najjair, 11 January 2018
Member of the High Council of State, Mansoor Hasadi, said in a press statement on Tuesday that the priority for the House of Representatives and the High Council of State now is to move towards preparations of the law on the referendum for the constitution. Hasadi added that they will then go to the elections and a permanent stage rather than another interim stage in accordance with the Libyan Political Agreement. He considered any obstruction to the referendum on the Libyan constitution as an attempt to remain in power, pointing out that these stages require a referendum first and a review of the record of voters to verify its authenticity, then conduct transparent elections under international supervision without exclusion of any party.
