Theme Committee 5 Submission for Block 5 - Traditional Leaders & Customary Law

Submission by the Democratic Party (DP) on Traditional Leaders & Customary Law in South Africa. The Democratic Party believes that room should be made in the judicial system for customary law. The notion that traditional courts should be recognised and incorporated into the existing court system is supported. DP proposes that traditional courts should be at the bottom of the hierarchy, only deal with customary law and parliament should have the authority to monitor and regulate them.
