Democratic Party: Submission to Theme Committee 3 on "The Nature of the Provincial System and Local Government”

Submission by the Demcratic Party (DP) to Theme Committee 3 on “The Nature of the Provincial System and Local Government”. The submission includes brief suggestions for South Africa’s new Constitution regarding the structuring of government at national, provincial and local levels. It is stated that it is of great importance that the powers and functions of each level are defined in the constitution in a manner that will allow for cooperation between the respective levels. The DP will submit detailed proposals on these issues as the work of the Theme Committee, in terms of the "Blocks' in the work programme, unfolds.
