Theme Committee One - Democracy and the Character of the Democratic State - Submission by the Democratic Party

This submission by DP displays a discussion concerning democratic principles in relation to South Africa’s deeply divided society. DP believes in supremacy of the Constitution over the ordinary law, supports federalism and suggests a voting system based on proportional representation. It is also suggested that there should be a Bill of Rights protecting basic human rights and separation of powers between the legislature, executive and judiciary, etc.
