Democratic Party: Initial Submission on the New Constitution - January 1995

This submission by the Democratic Party (DP) is made in response to the Constitutional Assembly’s invitation to make initial submissions on the new Constitution. According to DP the Constitution Principles and the interim Constitution provide a useful starting point for the Constitutional Assembly and the new Constitutional text. Against this background the Democratic Party presents short suggestions concerning the provincial system, local governments, accountability and the Bill of Rights. It is argued that the new Constitution should reject all forms of racial discrimination. DP will make further detailed submissions on specific aspects of the new Constitutional text.
