Submission of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) on the Electoral Commission

This document displays the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) submission to the Constitutional Assembly Theme Committee 6.1 regarding Electoral Commission. According to ACDP, Electoral Commission should be independent and representative. It will be advisable to view that the Election Commission as a permanent structure of society also with limited functions during non-election periods, dealing with issues on an advisory and analytical level.The election commission should adopt a strict code of principles, which will outline their position transparency, legitimacy, impartiality/non-partisanship, efficiency. This document also includes ACDP views on finance policy and the relationships with the local government authorities.
