Switzerland will hold referendum to ratify status of cash in its constitution

Switzerland is preparing for a referendum on March 8th to ratify the status of cash in the constitution, despite the continued growth of digital payments. Opinions indicate that around 60% of eligible voters support the idea. [ . . . ] Two polls, conducted by the public television station SRG and the media group Tamedia/20 Minuten, indicated that approximately 60% of eligible voters supported the idea prior to the referendum on March 8. In a referendum, citizens will choose between a proposal from the campaign group and an alternative proposal from the government. Both approaches agree on the inclusion of cash in the constitution, differing only in a few details, with the government's proposal receiving slightly more support.
