Tebu representatives in Libya’s Constitution Drafting Assembly, Khaled Boubaker Wahli and Al-Sanousi Hamid Wahli, have issued a statement opposing the current draft constitution. They stress the requirement for consultation with Tebu, Tuareg and Amazigh communities before any referendum.
The statement came in response to recent comments by the Government of National Unity’s Prime Minister regarding the reactivation of the Assembly’s role. The representatives cited Article 30 of the Interim Constitutional Declaration, which mandates agreement with minority components before constitutional approval.
According to the representatives, the existing draft was developed without proper consultation with these communities.
