Indian Supreme Court will examine whether disqualification procedures silence legislative dissent

Can MLAs who raise dissenting voices be silenced using the threat of disqualification? Supreme Court on Thursday while hearing Rajasthan Speaker's plea against High Court request to postpone disqualification proceedings against 19 rebel MLAs including Sachin Pilot said it will examine this crucial issue. Justice Arun Mishra who led the 3 judge bench said this was an "important question relating to future of democracy".
