Sudan passes liberal reforms bringing penal code in line with constitutional rights

Amendments to outlaw discriminatory practices and preserve civil liberties have been adopted, as the government pushes ahead with constitutional reforms. Sudan’s ruling body, the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), has ratified a set of sweeping changes to the country’s penal code in a bid to implement its constitutional mandate and strengthen its democratic transition.
