Irish Dáil passes bill over constitutional referendum on abortion

A bill to allow the holding of a referendum on the Eighth Amendment has been passed by the Dáil. This evening, it was passed by 97 votes to 25. It will now be sent to the Seanad for a three day debate beginning next Tuesday. The development paves the way for a referendum to be held at the end of May.
