Members of European Parliament urge Romania not to change its constitutional definition of family

33 members of the European Parliament from across the political spectrum have urged Romania’s parliament not to vote in favor of amending the country’s constitution as such amendment could make gay marriage impossible. The lower house of the Romanian parliament has already supported a proposed change to the constitutional definition of a marriage from “between spouses” to between "a man and a woman". If passed by the Senate and supported by Romanian voters in a nation-wide referendum, the amendment would make same-sex marriages impossible in the country.
