On Monday, 8 May 2017, an appeal hearing on the 16th amendment of the Constitution took place in the Parliament of Bangladesh. The constitutional revision process stressed a number of diverging issues between the executive and judiciary. An earlier proposal empowering the Parliament to remove Supreme Court judges for incapacity or misconduct was rejected by the High Court.
