Burundi's president hints at possible constitutional change to abolish term limits

Burundi’s President Pierre Nkurunziza suggested on Friday that he may stand for re-election in 2020 if Burundians want to change the constitution. His controversial third term in 2015 sparked a failed coup attempt, months of protests and subsequent government crackdown. The opposition has described Nkurunziza’s address as revealing his intention to be president for life.
