Turkmenistan parliament adopts constitutional amendment extending presidential term and age limits

<p><span>Lawmakers in&nbsp;Turkmenistan unanimously adopted a new constitution extending the presidential term from&nbsp;5 years to&nbsp;7 years and lifting a 70-year age ceiling on&nbsp;Wednesday. </span></p><p><span>"The adoption of&nbsp;the new Constitution of&nbsp;Turkmenistan marks a new stage in&nbsp;socio-economic and spiritual development of&nbsp;the country. Turkmenistan’s new constitution was designed to&nbsp;meet the international legislative experience based on&nbsp;recognized norms of&nbsp;international law," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said after&nbsp;signing the constitution into&nbsp;law.
