Battle over legality of Tanzania CA gets sticky

<p>The parties in the New Constitution case locked horns on whether the Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) should be allowed to file a case to question the conduct of the Constituent Assembly (CA).</p><p>While counsel for the TLS, the applicant in the case, contended that there was an arguable case warranting the intervention of the court, those representing the Attorney General (AG), the respondent in the matter, submitted to the contrary.</p><p>Judges Augustine Mwarija, Aloysius Mujulizi and Fauz Twaib, who are hearing the matter before the High Court in Dar es Salaam, said that they would give their ruling on Monday after going through the contentious issues presented by the parties.</p>
