Egyptian announces plans to create a national council

<p>On Saturday 7 May 2011, Egypt will be holding another ‘National Council’ in which participants hope to agree to a number of principles that will help guide the country through the transition period, and in particular during the constitutional process that is due to commence after the elections that are due to take place in September 2011. An earlier attempt to organise a national council was not particularly well attended – 160 participants took part in the discussions. Organisers are expecting 2,500 participants to attend on Saturday. The National Council has the support of a number of prominent Egyptians, including Eng.
