Turkish court upholds Wikipedia ban as constitutional

A court in Ankara has rejected a call to lift a ban on the crowd-sourced online encyclopedia- Wikipedia- illegalized in Turkey as posing a threat to national security. In its submission Wikipedia argued that the ban violated freedom of expression. The court rejected this argument stating that freedom of expression may be subject to sanctions necessary to prevent crime in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the relevant articles of the Turkish Constitution.
