Trinidadian President urged to withold assent to Constitution (Amendment) Bill

<p>Political Leader of the Movement for Social Justice (MSJ) David Abdulah has written to President Anthony Carmona, urging him to withhold his assent to the controversial Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2014.&nbsp;At a news conference held yesterday at the Communication Workers’ Union Hall, Henry Street, Port of Spain, Abdulah read from the letter which advised Carmona that the passage of the bill would “undermine our democracy and the legitimacy of our institutions of State”.<br>Abdulah stressed that the run-off provision was not included in the Constitution Reform Commission’s report in December, 2013 nor was it included in the Government’s manifesto in 2010.</p>
