Thailand: Next constitution 'will be totally new'

<p class="preParagraph">The charter to be written by the Constitution Drafting Committee is unlikely to be a modified version of former ones, but rather a totally new document based on the current situation to cope with problems that remain unsolved, Gen Lertrat Rattanawicharn said after a meeting of the CDC on Thursday.&nbsp;</p><p>Gen Lertrat, the committee spokesman, said the meeting discussed ways of drafting the new constitution to best suit the new situation, and arrived at two possible options:&nbsp;to modify the 1997 and 2007 constitutions by adhering to their old orders of sections and chapters; or&nbsp;to write a totally new constitution and rearrange various chapters in order of new priorities.</p>
