India to amend constitution to give 50% reservation to women in panchayats

<p>The Government will bring&nbsp;<span class="IL_AD">constitutional amendment</span>&nbsp;in upcoming budget session of Parliament to give 50 percent reservation to women in rural panchayats and urban local bodies. Announcing this at a conference in New Delhi today,<span class="IL_AD">Rural Development</span>&nbsp;and Panchayati Raj Minister Birender Singh said, this will enhance reservation for women in panchayats at all tiers from the current one-third to at least 50 per cent.</p>
